Leaving school with a distinction and on becoming a mini-author

I received a great early Christmas present in late November. I’d been labouring all year to do my part-time studies for my level 7-Advanced Diploma in Professional Coach-Mentoring with the OCM (Oxford School of Coaching and Mentoring).

I’d also opted to produce what was called “… an additional continuous piece of academic writing which reflects sophisticated levels of best practice, critical analysis and presentation to University Masters level standards”. This was a bit of a stretch in terms of workload, balancing this with running the business and competing at the niche western equestrian sport of Reining.

Wowee, I got the news that I’d been awarded a Distinction that meant hot tears of joy and relief, whilst at the same time glugging bottles of chilled champagne with various groups of supportive friends.

The important bit however is that this fabulous OCM experience gave the space to let my mind wander into some seemingly esoteric areas of coaching philosophy, some of this right-brained thinking has been captured in an article I’ve written for latest edition of the OCM Journal.

Even more rewarding was that the founder of the OCM, the indomitable Eric Parsloe approved the article, which was just as well as he was my inspiration!
